Interns and Work Study Positions

Interns:

Internships are offered to students seeking course credit for their work with the Jane Kopas Women's Center.  The goals of the internship program include helping students engage in feminist praxis by applying knowledge learned in courses to the work we do, development of skills and knowledge related to our mission and goals, and preparing students for their future career through administrative tasks and event and program planning.

Interns tend to work about 10 hours per week.  They serve as full members of the staff, attending staff meetings, leading at least one project, and participating in the planning and implementing of other events and programs offered by the Jane Kopas Women's Center.

We are now accepting applications for Spring 2023 interns!  Submit your application to jkwc@scranton.edu as soon as possible for consideration.

Work Study:

The Work Study program under the Jane Kopas Women's Center is offered to students who qualify for federal work study aid and are looking to obtain skills they can apply in a future career. Work Study students are the backbone of the JKWC- students have the opportunity to implement feminist theory into practice through educational programs.

Work Study students should expect to work about 10 hours a week on average, including some nights and weekends for special events. Work Study staff are charged with planning and implementing projects and events, maintaining a welcoming office space, completing general office tasks, engaging in research about events and programs to further our mission, focusing on their own development through research and reading, and serving as ambassadors of the  Cultural Centers in all that they do.

Please note: JKWC staff meetings tend to occur on Mondays or Tuesdays.  Please indicate your availability clearly for these days in your application.

Volunteers provide necessary insight and enthusiasm at the JKWC! Each semester, the JKWC utilizes volunteers and those seeking Service Learning hours to help research, plan, and staff events and plan events that further our mission.  Please contact jkwc@scranton.edu for more information.
